Talk about ripping into someone. Frank Shamrock literally ripped Kimbo Slice apart in his interview, calling Seth a “nobody” who beat a guy who is “no good.” For someone who actually does the commentary for Elite XC, these are tough words and an indication that we may not see him in the booth again. Here is the story.

There seems to be a good chance that we will see Ken vs. Frank next. Let’s hope Ken can stay healthy for his last big fight.

For a guy who was supposed to be destroying Ken Shamrock, facing a new opponent may need a bit of an adjustment, but Kimbo was definitely not ready for Seth Petruzellij. Not only Kimbo lost, he got embarrassed. He lost in 14 seconds to a never has been. Seth is a good fighter, but he is not Andrei Arlovski or Fedor, so losing to him in 14 seconds shows why MMA fans are complaining about the hype around Kimbo.

But Kimbo’s reputation as a humble guy who loves MMA is also in jeoprady after he and his folks asked for more money to fight against Seth. Didn’t he say to ESPN folks that he is not after money but he loves MMA? What happened Kimbo? I guess he knows that Elite XC won’t be able to last forever so he is trying to earn as much money as he can. He will still make big money after this fight. Elite XC will probably try to hand Ken to him and use him as a stepping stone for Kimbo to get back. But this is all a sham, and Kimbo should either train harder or look for another line of work. He is too old for this sport, and a couple of bad losses can really end his career. He can beat tomato cans, but can he get good enough to challenge the top guys?

UFC 91: Lesnar vs. Couture is one of the most anticipating UFCs that I can remember. Even though on paper, you have a legend fighting a rookie, the way things have worked out has left a lot of room for drama. Brock is a big draw because of his WWE past, and Randy Couture is well Randy. The tickets will go on sale tomorrow, but if I were you, I’d reserve my UFC 91 tickets now through online ticket reservation services. Stubhub is the one I usually use (see the map below):

It seems so at this point. Alexander was at his worst against Eric Schafer and was submitted with only 7 seconds remaining in round one. Alexander had a great start and threw some good punches, but with his career on the line he was taken down easily by Schafer and submitted subsequently. I like Houston. I think he is a great guy. But with no ground game, he simply has no real future in the MMA world. He can knock people out. That’s for sure. But a true elite 205 fighter should have no business losing to Eric Schafer in such a dominating fashion. Good luck to Houston in the future.

If Houston Alexander needed any extra motivation for his upcoming fight at Ultimate Fight Night on Spike TV, he certainly got it from Dana white. Dan was clear about the prospect of another loss by Houston Alexander:

He needs a way. He desperately needs a win. Another loss and he’s going to have to go out and start working his way back up to the UFC

Houston was impressive early in his UFC career but lost two bad fights (one in 8 seconds to the Sandman). Schafer is a very dangerous fighter who can certainly submit Houston, but I still think Houston should be able to knock him out if he avoids getting into a jujitsu game with Eric. Having said that, I am going to on a limb and predict that Eric Schafer will win in 2 rounds via submission. Sorry Houston.

There is a lot of buzz around Tito Ortiz and his future on the net. He has simply not been able to get anything done with the UFC and Affliction so far, and I doubt these guys will go out of their ways to sign this guy. Tito may still be a draw but he is no top fighter anymore. He really hasn’t beaten anyone who matters in his past fights, and his most impressive feat must be his draw against Rashad Evans.

But now there are talks that he may be close to signing with Elite XC. Nothing is for certain of course, and if history is for anything, Tito could sign with the UFC after it’s all done. But we take his word for it that there is a 99% chance that he won’t sign with the UFC.

The fighters are in the Octagon and ready for the fight. Chucks looks very scary tonight. Let’s see if the old Chuck is back.

Round 1: Rashad is getting a lot of boos. Chuck is the favorite as you didn’t know. They touch gloves. Sizing each other up so far. Chuck is alert for take-downs. Rashad is showboating. Chuck is trying to knock this guy out. But not much happening. Some nice kicks from Rashad. So far Rashad has avoided any major hits. Rashad eats a punch, but backs up and avoids Chuck’s punch. Chuck is bleeding for some reason.

Round 2: Chuck is going after Rashad more aggressively but surprisingly Rashad lands the more effective shots. Chuck is knocked out by Rashad! He is out cold! Wow!

Chuck is out and he is hurt badly. What a shot. Wow! I am stunned. The dream Griffin Liddell fight is now not going to happen. Chuck is still out after like 5 minutes. Rampage is in the crowd, and he is making funny faces. Forrest Griffin is in the crowd too and he looks disappointed. Chuck is finally up but he is wobbly. Rashad says that he hopes that Chuck is OK. Rashad was awesome tonight but the crowd is still booing him

This Palhares guy is very dangerous. He keeps going for submissions in every possible position. I don’t know if he can actually execute any of this against Anderson Silva, but he is going to be very dangerous to most 185 lbs guys. This was a very close fight. But Henderson did enough to win. Not a particularly exciting fight but If I were Dan, I’d be happy I ended the losing streak.

At this point, I am not sure who will get Machida. They could give Vera to him, but Vera has explained that he is not going to fight Machida in short notice. They could set up the WEC champ against Machida, but again it’s too early to see. But unless they put someone like Wanderlei Silva or Jackson against Machida, he is going to beat most light heavyweights.
